"Shaun Maloney and Gregor Rioch played a huge part in convincing me that I still had a big role to play at this football club, and this role is really exciting. It’s going to be a privilege to continue to represent the club, especially on matchdays. I have attended plenty of games this season as a fan, and the reception towards me has been great.

"I believe I’ve got a good eye for a player, and I’m excited to be working with the player recruitment team once again. I can’t wait to get going in this hybrid role, and be back involved at the club after a short break.”

Barrow was spotted on the gantry alongside Maloney - who was serving a touchline ban - for Tuesday night's home defeat to Mansfield Town.

"I cannot speak highly enough of Graham," said Maloney. "And to have him return to the club is absolutely brilliant. His knowledge and expertise is so valuable - he’ll be a big asset to our recruitment team as he has a real eye for a player.
