Blackburn Rovers have made an enquiry about bringing West Bromwich Albion’s former Wigan Athletic defender Cedric Kipre on loan to the club. (Various)

Sunderland are close to making Forest Green Rovers captain Carl Winchester their first signing of the January transfer window.

The Sunderland Echo states that a deal could soon be finalised for the 27-year-old.

Lee Johnson’s side are also said to be ‘keen on’ Fleetwood’s Town’s ex-Sheffield United and Manchester City striker Ched Evans.
