Latics travel to South Yorkshire boasting one of the best records in the Championship, a run which has lifted them into mid-table.

However, with a 12-point deduction looking for being placed into administration, they could drop down to joint-bottom - one point behind the Tykes - with four matches to go.

And Tykes boss Struber warns there'll be no mercy when the sides meet at Oakwell.

“The situation around Wigan is difficult for everyone who works at the club," he said.

"But it is not helpful to lose energy speaking about Wigan’s financial problems, we have to focus on the game.

"When I saw the last performance from Wigan, they are in a fighting mood.

"We are also fighting for our careers and our chance to stay in the league.

“Everyone knows this is a big game. We are in a good shape and very focused to bring a good performance.

"We know Wigan is one point behind us so we have the responsibility to bring a big performance so that we can make the gap a little bigger.

“Everyone knows Wigan’s situation and we are ready for a fight."

Latics go into the game having kept eight clean sheets in the last nine matches.

“Their defensive structure and their work together shows me it is a big challenge to score against them," acknowledged the Barnsley manager. "But it is not a magic team.

"It is a good team with very good form. But I know what we can bring.

"Hopefully, in the end, other teams are in the relegation, not Wigan and not Barnsley.”
