Star calls time on Wigan Athletic career

Hide AdHowever, he picked up a hamstring injury against Gillingham on September 19 - which altered the landscape completely.
With Latics only able to run with a squad of 23 players during administration, Roberts has found himself squeezed out now he is fit to return.
And with no definite date on the club being taken over - which would allow them to bring in free agents - Roberts is reluctantly looking elsewhere.
"So my three and a half years at Wigan are up," he tweeted.

Hide Ad"The position the club is in at the minute - with not allowed to sign players because of being in administration - means I'll be leaving and looking for a new club.
"I've loved every minute of playing for the club, we've had so many great nights.
"It's been heartbreaking to see what's happened to the club over the last few months, through no fault of our own - probably the hardest thing I've had to go through in my career.
"So stick together and keep fighting for your club.
"See you soon, Robbo."

Hide AdSam Morsy, Roberts' skipper for his three seasons with Latics, was one of the first to send his best wishes.
"Amazing on and off the pitch," he tweeted. "All the best mate, still loads left in the tank."
Latics youngster Alex Perry, who has replaced Morsy in the engine room since his departure, added: "All the best Robbo, thanks for everything."
