The 25-year-old forward was a free agent after leaving Turkish side Ankara Keciorengucu last month.

And he’s been able to become Latics’ 25th squad member – two more than the initial limit – after the club received special dispensation from the EFL following injuries to Kyle Joseph and Harry McHugh.

“It’s good to be here, and I’ll be doing everything I can to help the club stay up, and then hopefully push on to where it belongs,” said Dodoo, who came through the ranks at Leicester before spells at Rangers, Bury, Charlton, Blackpool and Bolton.

“The club’s obviously going through a very difficult situation, but there’s still plenty of games and plenty of points left to fight for.

“I just want to settle down and enjoy my football, which will hopefully see myself playing my best football. If I’m not playing football, I’m not happy, and being here is perfect for me to be able to do that.”

Dodoo will wear the No.20 shirt at Wigan.
