The group of supporters - calling themselves the 'Wigan Athletic Grievance Society' - were aiming to show the depth of feeling generated by the administration process over the last couple of months.

In particular, there was anger over perceived 'nothing but false promises, contradictory statements, a fire-sale of players, and what appear to be worrying signs of growing mistrust between Begbies Traynor and everyone else involved'.

None of the Latics administrators were present to face questions, but awareness of the situation was raised with local and national media present.

"It went really well," said 'Ned' of the Grievance Society. "It was a noisy but peaceful protest, about 40 to 50 in attendance, some Oldham fans even came along as well.

"Various TV and radio spoke to the fans, and the message to (Gerald) Krasner is simple: 'Get the your act together, get the club sold, and then get lost'."
