Wigan Athletic handed FA charge

Wigan Athletic have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following the League One fixture at Charlton Athletic last weekend.

It is alleged that during the 83rd minute of the fixture, Latics 'failed to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion'.

Some of the players, including skipper Joe Garner, surrounded referee Ollie Yates after he failed to award the visitors a penalty following a foul on Lee Evans.

The incident was described by John Sheridan in his post-match press conference as being one of two 'stonewall penalties' ignored by Yates, who also disallowed a 'goal' by Garner for a foul in the build-up by Will Keane.

The club has until Monday, October 26 to respond.
