The coach has made no secret of the fact he wants to extend his stay with the club where he spent four years as a player.

Lam, in his second season as coach after succeeding Shaun Wane, guided the side to the League Leaders' Shield and the Grand Final, where they lost 8-4 to St Helens.

Asked about his future after the title-decider defeat, the Australia assistant coach said: "I'll have that sorted in the next 72 hours, I'm pretty confident it'll be the case.

"I love it here. I'm loving it as coach and what we're building, with young ones coming through, I think the vibe around the place we're heading in the right direction. We've just lost a Grand Final on the last play - that hurts - but I think moving forward we'll get stronger."
