The Wigan boss was this week named the Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for April.

He has guided the Warriors to six wins from six this season, including five in April in both competitions.

Lam was last year crowned Super League Coach of the Year after leading the side to the League Leaders' Shield and a place in the Grand Final.

But he doesn't see this latest achievement as a personal prize.

“I would like to thank all of my staff as this is a collective award," he said.

"It’s not just for me – I understand the important role they all play within the club and it all benefits the one outcome.

"They have been working extremely hard throughout the pre-season and now into the season and I’d like to thank them massively.

“This is an award that makes myself and my staff very proud. It is an award that acknowledges the start of the season that we have had as a club and a team through difficult times. With players being unavailable, we have been able to manage the process to get us off to a great start."

That process has included playing forwards Willie Isa and Liam Farrell in the centres for all of their matches.

Wigan are level at the top with unbeaten St Helens following league wins over Leigh, Wakefield, Leeds, Castleford and Hull FC this year.
