Rugby League World Cup: Shaun Wane discusses the high standards in the England camp

His side made it two wins out of two in the Rugby League World Cup group stages with a 42-18 victory over France at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Wane states his side head into their next game at Bramall Lane wanting to be even better.

He said: “I want to beat Greece in a good manner with good habits.

“We want to keep improving. I know we’ve won two games but there’s a lot of talent still in this competition that we need to be aware of.

“I thought the French were good, they challenged us. I knew it wasn't going to be plain sailing, but I’m happy to win a test match by 40 odd points in a difficult game against a good team.

“In the first 20 minutes we were outstanding, the blueprint was there, but in the second 20 we slightly went away from it.

“There were a couple of areas where we could get better.

“I know we can improve. Our standards are very high, not mine, ours. We will get better on that.”

England’s final game of the group stages gets underway at 2.30pm in Sheffield on Saturday afternoon, with Wigan Warriors’ Kai Pearce-Paul and St Helens’ Joe Batchelor expected to come into Wane’s side.

Meanwhile, the other match in Pool A sees France take on Samoa at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday (K.O. 7pm).
