The 25-year-old has yet to play this year after being given permission to delay his return from Australia, but is likely to be named in the squad.

“Bevan is a little bit better now than a couple of weeks ago, so we’ll give him the rest of this week to see if he’s good to play at Leeds ” said Lam.

“We’ll make that decision at the back end of the week, but he’ll probably be part of the squad.

“He’s on that fringe area to be honest with you, so we’re being precautionary with him.

“There are a lot of soft tissue injuries around the world of rugby league at the moment, not just in the NRL but also over here.

“We’ve got to make sure that Bevan is okay and that’s why we’ve got to give him as much time as possible.”

Lam also isn’t feeling too sorry for the Rhinos, who are in the midst of an injury crisis.

“We’ve had our own issues with injuries in my time here so we know how difficult it can get,” he added. “But I’m not too worried about Leeds this week. We’ve got to make sure that we play well ourselves.”

Meanwhile, Wigan are set to be without front row forward Liam Byrne, who has been given a one-match penalty notice for a grade B dangerous tackle in his side’s 26-0 Challenge Cup over York last Friday.
