Halfback duo Bevan French and Harry Smith both come back into the extended squad, having missed out on Saturday’s 40-16 win over Catalans Dragons in Paris.

French did not feature for the Warriors as he went about building up his running load after returning from a 12-week injury lay-off the week before in Wigan’s Challenge Cup final win, having played a cameo role for the final 20 minutes at Wembley.

England international Smith has now served his one-match suspension he picked up following the Wembley triumph and is set to return against Wakefield this weekend.

French and Smith come back into Wigan’s 21-man squad in place of hooker Tom Forber and outside-back Nathan Lowe. Kian McDermott and George O’Loughlin are the other members of the 21 who didn’t feature in Paris - but could come into the matchday 17 this week.

As for Wakefield, they will be without loose forward Jazz Tevaga for the visit of Wigan, with the Samoa international receiving a one-match ban following their 26-24 win over Hull KR last weekend. Meanwhile, halfback Mason Lino and centre Corey Hall miss out through injury.

Trinity boss Daryl Powell is able to welcome back fullback Max Jowitt, who made his return from injury last week for the reserves. Will Tate and Charlie Abraham also come into Powell’s 21-man squad for Friday’s clash.

Wakefield: Max Jowitt, Oliver Pratt, Cameron Scott, Tom Johnstone, Jake Trueman, Mike McMeeken, Tyson Smoothy, Ky Rodwell, Seth Nikotemo, Matty Storton, Jay Pitts, Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Caius Faatili, Harvey Smith, Isaiah Vagana, Jack Sinfield, Jayden Myers, Josh Rourke, Tray Lolesio, Will Tate, Charlie Abraham.

Wigan: Jai Field, Zach Eckersley, Adam Keighran, Jake Wardle, Bevan French, Harry Smith, Ethan Havard, Brad O’Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago, Ollie Partington, Jack Farrimond, Sam Eseh, Kian McDermott, Taylor Kerr, Noah Hodkinson, George O’Loughlin, George Marsden.

The Round 14 Super League fixture takes place at the DIY Kitchens Stadium on Friday night, 8pm kick-off. The game will be broadcast live on the Sky Sports + Channel.
