York Knights v Wigan Warriors team news as Matt Peet makes one change to 21-man squad
The 21-man squads are in for Saturday’s Super League clash between York Knights and Wigan Warriors at the LNER Community Stadium
Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has made one change to his 21-man squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to the LNER Community Stadium to face York Knights.

The Warriors boss has been forced into making a change to his squad following their impressive 48-10 win over Wakefield Trinity last time out, with key prop Ethan Havard set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken jaw in last Friday’s victory at the DIY Kitchens Stadium. The England international underwent surgery over the weekend and is now in the process of recovery, although the timeframe remains unspecified.
As a result, young prop Shea O’Connor comes into Wigan’s 21-man squad for the trip to York. O’Connor made his first-team debut back last month when Peet fielded a youthful Warriors side that went down to a 62-4 defeat to Hull KR in the week before Wigan’s Challenge Cup final success at Wembley.
A former Orrell St James junior, O’Connor has come through the ranks at his hometown club and has featured heavily for the academy and reserves this year, while training with the first-team when required.
As for York, coach Mark Applegarth has made one change to his 21-man squad that tasted a 38-6 defeat away to Hull KR last Friday, with New Zealander utility Nikau Williams returning to the Knights after a spell on loan at Newcastle Thunder in the Championship.
York and Wigan have already met once this season, with the Warriors coming from 14-0 down to win 23-22 at the Brick Community Stadium back in March.
York: Toa Mata’afa, Sam Wood, Scott Galeano, Ata Hingano, Liam Harris, Jack Martin, Paul Vaughan, Jordan Thompson, Denive Balmforth, Xavier Va’a, Kieran Hudson, Oli Field, Kieran Buchanan, Jon Bennison, Will Dagger, Nikau Williams, Harvey Reynolds, King Vuniyayawa, Cody Hunter, David Nofoaluma, Tom Inman.
Wigan: Jai Field, Zach Eckersley, Adam Keighran, Jake Wardle, Bevan French, Harry Smith, Brad O’Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago, Ollie Partington, Jack Farrimond, Sam Eseh, Kian McDermott, Taylor Kerr, Noah Hodkinson, George O’Loughlin, George Marsden, Shea O’Connor.
The Round 15 Super League fixture takes place at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 3pm kick-off. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports + Red Button and SuperLeague+.
