Columnist Tony Porter ponders what he sees as a mixed week for our Prime Minister

Columnist Tony Porter looks at what he thinks are good, bad and ugly moments for Andy Burnham over the past week

As I said on my Politics Watch 015 Podcast, Andy has had a good, bad and silly week, though I may have used another word for the last one.

Finally, after much delay, it was drill baby drill for gas in the Jackdaw field in the North Sea.

Although despite saying point-scoring was not a thing anymore, he still blamed the Tories for the delay, over two years after they left office.

Trump was pleased, but we should be more so.

Next up is the oil field known as Rosebank, and there’s more dithering here too.

As I have said many times, it is beyond idiotic to transport fuel from around the globe, using non-environmentally friendly massive tankers, when we have a supply waiting for us to use at will.

Are Labour and the idiots with placards saying no to drilling wanting us to run out of fuel? It’s crazy.

Use this while we get green hydrogen going, build more nuclear powers stations and when that’s all sorted we can stop.

Anybody who thinks anything we do will affect the climate is clearly wrong, crazy even.

Miliband and his environmental mates would sooner see old folk freeze, UK transport, reliant on diesel, grind to a halt, and there be empty shelves in supermarkets for their unpopular and utterly pointless green agenda.

Now Bad Burnham via Wes Streeting, who in opposition I had some time for, in a speech asked “How would we cope if the payment systems at the local supermarket went down?”

Well done, you have finally woken up. Cashless society is vulnerable to cyber-attack, as I have been saying for years. The looney Left has been criticising my opinion every time but now Labour has caught on.

I mentioned the incident in Tesco when the card payment system went down.

If this happens again, via my predicted cyber-attack, then cashless businesses would have to close, you would not be able to draw cash out as the machines, if working, would be emptied very quickly by folks panicking.

But here is the rub: Wes encouraged households to stock up on supplies including non-perishable food, bottled water, a torch, sleeping bags, and first aid items to survive for three days.

Three days? I mean really. Now this is either “we know something but are not letting you know what we know” good advice, or scaremongering to act as a distraction from the impending budget and utter mess regarding small boats, inflation and everything else they have messed up.

Most homes would have stuff in the cupboards, torches etc, but why sleeping bags, is the cyber attack going to evict people onto the streets Streeting?

Then we have the ugly, pointless stuff.

A £100 pound fine for vaping or loud music on a bus, up to a grand on a train. Who is going to police that? Pointless.

Removing standing charges on gas bills, which will just be moved to the unit price therefore pointless.

Appearing on Gogglebox with your mate from Merseyside, pointless.

We want you sorting out the country not making silly videos and doing publicity stunts. You are better than Sir Stuntman Ed Davey.

Remember you said you did not think Matt Hancock was a "bad person" but his decision to appear on I'm A Celebrity... demonstrated "bad judgement.”
