Wigan firm Armstrong Nield's football fund-raising delivers £47k for The Brick
A football tournament organised by a Wigan firm is helping to make a difference for people across the borough.
Three years of football fund-raising by a Wigan-based firm have raised £47,000 for a charity helping to support people experiencing poverty, homelessness and financial hardship.

Engineering recruitment company Armstrong Nield holds an annual tournament with winners scooping the Armstrong Nield Cup.
It raised £15,000 this year for The Brick, following donations of £11,000 in 2024 and £21,000 in 2025.
Director Carl Nield said: “Supporting The Brick over the past three years, alongside other local charities since we started the tournament, means a great deal to us as a business. We’re proud of our roots in Wigan and want to play a part in supporting the community around us.
“The Brick is there for people when life becomes incredibly difficult. Knowing that our fund-raising can help them continue that work gives everyone involved a real sense of purpose.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our team, clients and friends for their continued support. The £47,000 raised for The Brick is a shared achievement, and one we’re very proud of.”
The Brick has been the tournament’s chosen charity for three consecutive years.
Keely Dalfen, the charity’s chief executive, said: “Raising £47,000 over three years is a fantastic achievement, and we’re incredibly grateful to Carl, everyone at Armstrong Nield and all the businesses that have made it possible.
“Behind that total are local people facing difficult circumstances who need practical help and someone to turn to. This support helps us respond to those needs and work alongside people as they rebuild their lives.
“The continued commitment is what makes this partnership so valuable. Armstrong Nield and the teams taking part have shown how bringing businesses together can make a lasting difference in our community.”
The Armstrong Nield Cup brings together the company’s clients, business connections and friends through football.
This year’s tournament took place at Manchester City’s training ground, where 10 teams competed in sweltering conditions and Amazon emerged as champions.
Across its four tournaments, the event has raised more than £65,000 for The Brick and other charitable causes.
Organisers are already looking ahead to the 2027 Armstrong Nield Cup, with hopes of building on that success.
The Brick welcomes inquiries from businesses interested in supporting its work through fund-raising, volunteering or an ongoing partnership.
