The Ashton-born star joined Coronation Street in 2006 and has no thoughts of leaving anytime soon.

She told Woman’s Own: “I’ve no thoughts about moving on.

People always come and go on the show, that’s just how it is, but I’m having a great time. Maybe I could still be on the cobbles in 10 years if it works for both parties.”

The 10-year anniversary made the 39-year-old reminisce about her early days.

She told OK!: “Emilie was eight when I joined the show and she used to come into the Green Room and play dressing-up games. It’s weird because it’s gone so quickly, but I feel like I’ve grown up a bit by being here.

“I’m still learning every day. Somebody put a clip on Twitter of my first episode and I was like: ‘Oh, I was rubbish!’ My acting style has changed quite a bit.”

She added she was only signed up for four episodes and couldn’t believe when she was asked to come back.

She said: “I remember when they said there was a possibility Michelle might come back and I was like: ‘There’s no way that’ll happen! I remember exactly what I was doing when I get the call about going back - I was making spaghetti bolognese in my kitchen in St Albans and that got left and we all went out and celebrated.”

She also spoke about her disappointment when her record label dropped her.

She said: “My record label dropped me when people started downloading songs and record companies didn’t know how to deal with it. I wasn’t sure I wanted another deal because it took me away from the kids. I found life quite lonely. Now when people see me, they forget I am a singer. It’s a compliment because it means they see me as an actress, but I was never ashamed of Hear’Say because it brought me here.”

Meanwhile, Michelle’s love live on the cobbles looks to see a shake-up as her first love, played by Leon Ockenden comes back into her life and she could stray...

Kym said: “When I first heard about the story I thought, ’That is so not like her, why would she do that?’

“But she put up with all kinds of things (with Steve McDonald).”
