THEATRE REVIEW - Snow White

It’s true, the little kiddies hadn’t a clue about her world-wide claim to fame. But in years to come, they’ll tell their own children how once, a long time ago in an enchanted theatre in Manchester, they actually saw Elvis Presley’s wife.

Snow White and the ever-magnificent marching seven dwarfs make a welcome return. Aptly on the first night, the temperature outside was touching zero and snow was forecast.

The theatre within was a magic box of festive warmth – and big cash had been spent on a glorious multi-layered production, high on glitz and glamour.

The panto was a magic box of festive treats and the star-cast simply couldn’t put a foot wrong. For adults, it was the mesmerising appearance of Mrs Presley that had us fascinated, and the kids were tickled pink with the dwarfs, lead by the superb Warwick Davis who had made it big in 2014.

The great guy who kept the whole show tumbling at high speed was Opera House favourite Tam Ryan (Muddles) who quite literally whipped the little ones into a frenzy in their bid to save innocent Snow White from a dagger death.

Cheeky chappie Philip Olivier gave us a pretty price, pacing the stage with comic authority.

As the Wicked Queen’s sidekick, Daniel Henchmen brought some hilarious moments.

This is a truly festive panto which pushes all the right buttoms. It plays until January 4.
