A 27-year-old, said to be subject to “irrational jealousy” and subjected his then partner to years of domestic abuse is put behind bars

A Wigan man who admitted to subjecting his one-time partner to a seven-year ordeal of domestic abuse has been jailed.

Codie Boyd, 27, of Walthew Lane, Platt Bridge, had initially denied a single charge of coercive and controlling behaviour towards a named female between January 1 2019 and December 16 2025.

But at a later hearing he changed his plea.

The court heard that Boyd was subject to "irrational jealousy and made repeated accusations of cheating" against his girlfriend, knowing what a serious effect it would have on her.

Returning to court to learn his fate, he was given a custodial term of three years and one month.
