An allegation of tenancy fraud against a Wigan woman has been withdrawn before it could go to trial

A Wigan woman accused of fraud by giving a fake name as a prospective tenant has walked free from court after the case against her collapsed.

Elaine Taylor, 50, of Bank Street, Platt Bridge, had appeared before borough justices to deny a charge that between August 17 and September 8 2018 she entered into a tenancy agreement using a fraudulent name with the aim of gaining financially from a tenancy deposit.

But before the trial could take place at Bolton Crown Court the prosecution offered no evidence and she was told by the judge that she was free to go.
