The pair were only three points short of a perfect score from the judges after they performed the Argentinian dance in the latest round of the BBC reality show.

Kym, who had previously pointed out that she has to cram rehearsals in with appearances on Morning Live and shooting the drama Waterloo Road, showed no signs of lacking practice when the duo garnered 37 points for their latest performance.

It’s the furthest Graziano has ever got in the competition and had never danced a tango on the show either, so he was as delighted as Kym with the scores and remarks.

Judge Shirley Ballas told the pair: “I am not sure, Kym, how good you realise that was. I feel you were emotionally invested in it. I felt like there was just the two of you in the whole world.

"I think this is one of the most accomplished routines I have seen you do. It was beautiful.”

Craig Revel Horwood said: “Apart from your raised shoulders, your dance was absolutely perfect.”

Motsi Mabusi said: “I feel that you are one of our strongest competitors on the dance floor.”

And before giving them a perfect 10, Anton du Beke said: “I was a bit concerned when you did the quickstep – you were a bit hunched. But this performance was unrecognisable. I loved it. Yes please!”

Before they took to the floor, Kym called the tango “passionate, intense and very powerful” but that rehearsing was very different from perfoming in the studio.

Lying just above Kym and Graziano on 38 points are Hamza Yassin and partner Jowita Przystal. Bringing up the rear after the latest round is Tony Adams and Katya Jones.

But it can all change with the public vote, the results of which will be announced on Sunday November 6.
