Pensioner seriously hurt after bike crash

A MAN in his 80s is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a motorbike.

Police were called to Walkden Avenue near Mesnes Park after the incident shortly after 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The pensioner was left with serious injuries as a result of the collision and officers sealed off the road while he was attended to by paramedics.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to an RTC between a motorbike and a pedestrian on Walkden Avenue at 5.39pm.

“An ambulance came and the man was taken to hospital. It’s believed the bike was travelling at a low speed and the man received serious but not life threatening injuries.”
