Audiences will need to sharpen their pencils and arrive before the bell to be in with a chance to watch the special preview of the first episode – due to broadcast on BBC One in early 2023 – followed by a Q&A session with the cast.

To attend this event, fans can apply for tickets on the BBC Shows and Tours website.

Waterloo Road was one of the UK’s most popular and longest-running TV dramas, originally airing on the BBC from 2006 to 2015, with an impressive alumni of characters and award-winning storylines.

It is now being revived and the new series will feature returning characters such as Kim Campbell (Angela Griffin), Donte Charles (Adam Thomas) and Chlo Charles (Katie Griffiths), along with new faces such as Kym.

Gaynor Holmes, co-commissioning editor for BBC Drama, said: “We can’t wait for audiences to experience the thrills, excitement and impact of this brand new chapter of Waterloo Road. Since its inception in 2006, the series has given audiences across the UK high drama, unmissable characters and meaningful storytelling.”

The premiere comes at a busy time for Kym, who hails from Garswood and made her name as a member of pop group Hear’Say before starring in ITV1’s Coronation Street.

She is competing in the current series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing with professional partner Graziano Di Prima.

They danced an American smooth to Chasing Cars, originally by Snow Patrol, on Saturday night and impressed the judges, despite them noticing a mistake.

She is also continuing to present BBC One’s Morning Live with Gethin Jones.
