Latics travel to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on struggling Rovers, looking for a sixth win on the bounce that would extend their unbeaten run to 21 matches.

It’s an incredible run of form that’s seen Latics go four points clear of Burton at the top – and nine points clear of third-placed Walsall.

If results go their way this weekend, Latics could even secure promotion as early as this Tuesday at long-time leaders Burton.

The club out their 1,715 allocation for Tuesday weeks ago, and a similar figure will be in the away end at Doncaster:

“I think they’ve been amazing,” Caldwell told the Evening Post.

“I don’t think you can put into words how much the fans actually help us, and how much we can feel their support.

“I tell the players I’ve been up there in the Premier League and we didn’t get support like this, so they must be doing something right.

“These fans want to come and watch us play, they want to support us, and we’ve got to use that to our advantage to perform better, to give more.

“And I think we’ve done that. You can see the away performances have been excellent, and I think that’s largely down to the away followings we’ve been enjoying.”

Latics are still waiting to hear back from Blackpool whether their request for extra tickets for the clash on April 30 has been successful, after selling out the original batch of 3,047 in less than three hours at the weekend.
