The Wales international, 28, spent one season at Wigan Athletic after signing from Barnsley last summer.

He scored 10 goals for Latics during the 2019-20 season, finishing as the club’s top goal-scorer.

"The interest has been there for some time. I'm thrilled to get this over the line," he said. "I've spoken to the manager and his desire is to get promoted to the Premier League and that is something I share."

His move - which had been expected - is subject to international clearance. No fee for him has been revealed but it is thought to be around £2m, covering the outstanding £1.5m amount owed by Latics to his former club.

A Latics spokesman said: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Kieffer for his efforts during the 2019-20 season and wish him well in his future career with Cardiff City and Wales."

Middlesbrough, Stoke and Nottingham Forest were also keen on the towering striker.

Moore follows Joe Gelhardt (Leeds), Alfie Devine (Spurs) and Jensen Weir (Brighton) out the door since their relegation to League One. Manager Paul Cook also resigned.
