French duo blanked by Wigan team-mates... but only for weekend!

Romain Navarrete has tolerated listening to his England team-mates chant, 'It's coming home!'

Frenchmen Romain Navarrete and Morgan Escare have been shunned by the Wigan squad '“ but only for the weekend!

The former Catalans duo will be cheering on their homeland in tomorrow’s World Cup final against Croatia.

And to ensure they won’t be able to gloat – in wake of England’s semi-final disappointment – the pair have been removed from the players’ phone messaging group!

“We have a Whatsapp group, and they deleted me and Morgan from it,” smiled Navarrete.

“They said they will put us back after the World Cup is over!”

Navarrete says there was plenty of banter between the French duo and their English team-mates in the build-up to the semi-finals.

“They been enjoying it, the players have been saying, ‘It’s coming home’ – and I was saying, ‘No, it’s coming to France’. Now they believe me,” he said.

“They spoke about a barbeque on Sunday to watch the final, but now England have not got there, I know there won’t be a barbeque.” The prop is confident France will win the final.

“I’m looking forward to it, hopefully France will win. I’ve followed every game, we’ve never been to extra-time, we have beaten Argentina, Uruguay and Belgium... they should be okay against Croatia.”
