England ease past Wales to kick off Rugby League World Cup campaign in style

England enjoyed a 70-6 win over Wales in their Women’s Rugby League World Cup opener on Saturday

Wigan Warriors winger Anna Davies and debutant Connie Boyd both scored hat-tricks for England, who eased to a 70-6 win over Wales in their Women's Rugby League World Cup opener in Perth.

Debutants Wales had their moment when Paige Travis bundled over to cancel out Amelia Brown's opener for England and briefly haul her side level in the early stages.

But after that it was all one-way traffic as England proceeded to score 13 tries supplemented by nine successful kicks from Izzy Rowe - who crossed for two of her own.

The World Cup is set to get much tougher for England, whose next match is against hosts and defending champions Australia next Saturday.
