Leigh police officers track down and charge 30-year-old with vehicle theft

After a victim reported bank cards stolen from their vehicle in Leigh South, officers got to work to find the thief.

The cards were then used at a number of stores across the area during the night of October 11 2026. Following enquiries carried out by the Leigh South Neighbourhood Team, officers arrested a 30-year-old male.

The male has now been charged with theft from a motor vehicle and Fraud by false representation.

Leigh Police said this is “a great result from the team and a reminder that even seemingly small pieces of information can play a crucial role in an investigation.

“Please continue to report suspicious activity and remember to keep vehicles locked and free from valuables wherever possible.”
