Wigan Warriors dominate Woman of Steel award shortlist with key trio nominated
Three Wigan Warriors players make up the shortlist for the 2026 Woman of Steel award!
Wigan Warriors have enjoyed a clean sweep of nominations for the 2026 Woman of Steel award, with Jenna Foubister, Eva Hunter and Megan Williams all named on the three-player shortlist for the competition’s most prestigious individual honour.

The Warriors trio make up this year’s Woman of Steel shortlist ahead of the Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester, which will take place on the evening of Tuesday, September 29.
The shortlist reflects another stellar campaign for the Warriors, who could complete a second successive domestic treble, should they be victorious against York Valkyrie in the Women’s Super League Grand Final on Sunday, September 27.
Foubister’s nomination comes after another influential season in Wigan’s spine. The 19-year-old halfback has scored nine tries in 18 appearances across all competitions and has established herself as one of the leading playmakers in the women’s game.
Foubister also produced a Player of the Match performance in the Women’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium, creating two tries and providing three line-break assists as Denis Betts’ side retained the Challenge Cup.
Reigning Woman of Steel Hunter has enjoyed another blockbuster season, scoring 23 tries in all competitions. The powerhouse back-rower has continued to display her threat with the ball in hand, while also writing her name into the history books by becoming the first woman to score four tries in a Challenge Cup final at Wembley.
Williams’ place on the Woman of Steel shortlist follows an impressive two seasons with Wigan, having become one of the competition’s most consistent forwards.
Since arriving at Wigan ahead of the 2025 season from St Helens, Williams has become a standout forward for Betts’ outfit. She has scored four tries since the competition split into the Super Four phase, while displaying her ball-playing ability at 13.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants star Amelia Brown finished as the top try-scorer in 2026, having crossed 31 times in all competitions - 26 in the Women’s Super League and five in the Women’s Challenge Cup.
The Coach of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards are determined by the England Performance Unit and will be announced next week.
