A group of Wigan schools is celebrating outstanding SATs results well above national average
Wigan's QUEST Trust schools achieve remarkable SATs results, surpassing national standards in reading, writing, SPaG, and maths.
QUEST Trust’s four Wigan primary schools are celebrating a year of outstanding academic results, with pupils achieving well above national averages across every stage of their education.

This year, 82 per cent of Year 6 pupils across QUEST schools reached the expected standard in reading, writing, SPaG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar) and maths combined in their end-of-primary SATs - 19 percentage points higher than the national average.
The results reflect continued improvement across the trust, with outcomes rising significantly over the past three years.
The proportion of pupils reaching the expected standard by the end of their primary education has increased by 31 percentage points during that time, including an 11-point rise compared with last year alone.

Strong performance can be seen throughout all year groups too.
In Reception, 77 per cent of children achieved a Good Level of Development, while phonics results in Year 1 and Year 2 continue to exceed national expectations. Year 4 pupils also performed strongly in the Multiplication Tables Check, with results above national benchmarks.
Across the Trust, individual schools have also demonstrated particular strengths.
St Peter’s achieved an impressive 95 per cent pass rate in Year 2 phonics, while St John’s Abram recorded a standout 70 per cent result in the Year 4 multiplication check.
At St John’s Hindley Green, pupils achieved exceptionally high outcomes in reading, including strong performance at greater depth. Hindley Green Community Primary School also delivered superb Year 6 results, with 86 per cent of pupils reaching the expected standard combined and high attainment across reading, writing and maths, reflecting a consistently strong and balanced performance.
Together, these achievements reflect the shared commitment of pupils, staff and families across QUEST schools, with each school contributing its own strengths to the success of the Trust as a whole.
Marc Doyle, CEO of QUEST Trust, said:

“These results are something everyone across our school communities should be incredibly proud of.
“They reflect the hard work of our pupils, the dedication of our staff and the support of families.
“What is particularly pleasing is the consistency we are seeing across all of our schools and all stages of education.
“From early years through to Year 6, our pupils are achieving strong outcomes and continuing to improve year on year.
“We know that every school within QUEST brings its own strengths, and by working together and sharing what works well, we are able to provide the very best education for all of our children.”
QUEST Trust supports young people across Wigan from early years through to the transition into secondary school.
