Wigan bikers are holding a fund-raising event to support a popular member diagnosed with cancer
A fund-raising event has been organised by the Screaming Reaper Community Biker Group in aid of member Jenny Burke, who has been diagnosed with uterine cancer and will be unable to work for the next four months.
A fund-raiser is being held for a much-loved member of a Wigan bikers’ group who was diagnosed with cancer.

Jenny Burke, 39, found out she had uterine cancer only two weeks ago and will be having surgery on September 17.

Due to her job as a care worker looking after people with brain damage, she has been told that she cannot work for the next four months and will only get statutory sick pay.
Jenny is part of Screaming Reaper Community Biker Group, which is based in Standish, and members have decided to help by organising a fund-raising event, so she doesn’t have to worry about her finances whilst having treatment.
One of the organisers Lynne Concannon said: “I’ve only known Jenn for about eight months but in that time she’s become of one my best friends. We just immediately clicked and became really close.
“We just decided that we would try and raise a little bit of money to help her whist she’s in recovery, because she’s been worrying about paying her bills.”
The fund-raising event will start at noon on Sunday at Black Bull Hotel in Standish, which is the regular meeting place for the biker group.
There will be pillion rides, a bike show, a bake sale, face painting, children’s activities and the chance to take a photo with snakes.
There will also be a raffle for £1 per strip which features a range of prizes, such as P.Louise makeup, two hampers, a Charlie Park Family Play pass and a two-hour tattoo session.
Lynne said: “I actually sing so we’re going to provide a bit of live music on Sunday afternoon, we’re called Scarlet Roses.
“It’s actually got a lot more popular than it was supposed to be. It was going to be a little thing but everybody’s wanting to help and we’ve already raised some money on the GoFundMe page.”
Already, the group is already its way to meeting its £2,000 goal.
