A violent stalker who sent his female victim threatening messages is beginning a custodial sentence

A Wigan 34-year-old who terrorised a woman and attacked her has been put behind bars.

David Peet, of Grange Road, Ashton, had previously appeared before local justices to plead guilty to stalking a named female between July 12 and September 15 and in doing so, putting her in fear of violence.

The court was told that he sent his victim menacing messages via SMS and Instagram.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting her and causing actual bodily harm on the first of those dates.

Sent to appear before a Liverpool Crown Court judge to learn his fate, he has now been sentenced to 26 months in custody.
