Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves to meet in Academy Grand Final this weekend with details confirmed
Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves will go head-to-head in this year’s Academy Grand Final!
Wigan Warriors will face neighbours Warrington Wolves in the Academy Grand Final at the Brick Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

This year’s Academy Grand Final will take place at the Brick Community Stadium on Sunday, September 6, 3pm kick-off.
The Warriors, who are unbeaten in 2026, will host the Academy Grand Final after finishing top of the league, hosting the Wolves, who were undefeated in 2025 and are reigning champions of the Academy League.
Wigan enjoyed a 42-0 win over Warrington at Robin Park Arena back in July, before beating the Wolves 30-20 on home soil a month ago.
“Warrington are the defending champions, and they’ll offer a tough and physical game,” said Wigan’s head of youth Shane Eccles.
“Our two fixtures against them this season have been intense, so we know to expect a test. The main focus will always be on ourselves, no matter who we play.”
With the Academy Grand Final being staged at the Brick Community Stadium, Eccles is backing his players to embrace the occasion.
“It will be a massive difference from what we have at Robin Park Arena,” said Eccles. “It’s already impressive having a backdrop of a stand with people sat in it, but none of our current academy squad has played at the Brick Community Stadium.
“For them to step up and play at the stadium is a huge achievement, and it’s a dream many young kids around Wigan have. Some of those lads are going to live that dream in the next few weeks.
“It will also prepare them for when they step up to first-team as they will have had that experience of playing at the stadium with people in it, which makes that transition easier.”
Following the conclusion of the Academy League season, Eccles will once again lead Lancashire as head coach in the upcoming Academy Origin series, with Matty Smith as an assistant.
The Warriors have had 12 players selected - 11 for Lancashire and one for Yorkshire - with the two-match series to be played in Warrington and Castleford.
“It’s recognition for not just the work they’ve done this year, but the last three or four years since coming through scholarship,” said Eccles.
“There will be some players that will feel like they could have been in, but we can’t pick them all. For us as a club, it’s great to have 12 players selected for Academy Origin, and it’s going to be a privilege for me to be leading Lancashire.”
Tickets for Sunday’s Academy Grand Final are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for juniors, with supporters able to purchase tickets from the Brick Community Stadium ticket office or online.
