Annual Halloween fund-raiser for the special care baby unit at Wigan Infirmary
A Wigan off-licence is once again providing thrills aplenty as a woman raises money for the hospital that looked after her premature grandson
Customers of a Wigan shop are being asked to dig deep for charity, in return for a spooky thrill or two.

In 2016 Jayne West’s grandson Charlie was born early.
But thanks to the dedication of the doctors and nurses on the special care baby unit at Wigan Infirmary that survived.
He came home from hospital on Halloween and every year since Jayne has spookily decorated inside Bargain Booze on Wigan Road in Bryn.
On the big day itself staff and customers help to set up decorations outside the store, don costumes and hand out free goody bags to children who visit, raising thousands of pounds over the years for the baby unit.
Jayne said: “The baby unit has helped so many families in such a difficult time it’s our way to thank them
“Over the years we have provided breathing monitors, breast pump, enable them to decorate the mother and baby room, mothercare pram , fridge freezer, sensory toys, Polaroid camera, paper and ink enabling each baby to have a special care passport keepsake of their baby and last year we provided 3 iPads: one for each room on the unit allowing regular updates and pictures to parents.
“Last year’s total raised was £960 thanks to our generous customers from spare change and donations . This year we are hoping to raise £1,000.
“Please bob over on Halloween, say hello , have your picture taken with our brand new 10ft Dracula addition and each child will receive a free goody bag.
“It’s all for a great cause treating the babies this Halloween.”
