A Wigan thug's trial has been abandoned after he finally admitted to attacking a woman

The much delayed trial of a Wigan man, who denied attacking a woman, has been stopped before it was finally due to begin because the defendant changed his plea
The trial of a Wigan 31-year-old accused of deliberately injuring a woman has been axed after he came clean about the attack.
Jordan Belshaw, of Simpkin Street, Abram, had previously denied a single charge of causing a named female actual bodily harm on March 16 2024 and on his first appearance at Bolton Crown Court in March last year a trial was scheduled to take place on July 15, a court spokesperson saying the case had been fast-tracked because the allegation was one of domestic violence.
But then it was postponed until December and then, due to ongoing case backlogs, it had been shelved again until late summer this year.
But before it could start, Belshaw changed his plea to guilty.
He was bailed until sentencing is carried out on October 14.
